five movements in 6001

Five Movements Inverted.png

for five to seven instruments

Five Movements in 6001 is a process-driven work exploring the integration of both electronics and acoustic instruments. The electronics are based on an audio clip of my music teacher saying the phrase "But, does this chord sounds like a sus". The electronics which are fixed outline a series of five process. The acoustic instruments improvise based on a set of fixed instructions, either to complement, go under, or compete against the electronics.

An analogy to think about would be this: the dimensions and the elements in a room are fixed, but how we arrange them are dependent on our own tastes. In a similar vein, the electronics and the processes are fixed, but how the players interpret them are really dependent on their own understanding of the music.
